Allergies!

‘Tis the season y’all! For many this time of year can be a difficult transition or even just an annoying one! I personally love the change of winter to spring. From snow to sun when all the leaves being to pop, poppies begin to grow, days are longer… you can almost taste the summer. It’s MAGIC. So if you struggle with plugged and runny nose, face pressure, itchy face, eyes, nose and throat, itchy ears, READ ON.

There are many things that can help along with the Claritin, Allegra, Benadryl, Mucinex etc. First off, my fave , ACUPUNTURE. Here I’ll outline several points for you to massage, guasha, facial roll etc.

Bladder 2- Why would an acupressure point that has to do with the bladder help my allergies? Because the whole body is connected! But in this case, a lot of it is due to the location. this point is located right above the corner or the eyes right before your eyebrows start. This beautiful point will help to open up the sinuses, relieve head pressure, brighten the eyes, headaches, itchy eyes, watery eyes. Dang, the list goes on for this bad boy, give it a try, see how it feels for you!

Gall Bladder 14- This baby is a PWR HOUSE! It is located about 1 fingerbreadth about the eyebrow, directly above your pupil. Try to find it right now with your fingers. Close your eyes, how does it feel? For me it feels like I can take a deep breath again, relax, melt away my worries and never want to leave this zone or moment. Powerful right? At this point, the energies of the Gallbladder, Stomach, Large Intestine, San Jiao and extraordinary meridian Yang Qiao all meet to say hello to each other. That is rare, powerful and incredible. So by touching this one tiny spot on your forehead, you are accessing 4 organs and one whole universe! Damn. It does all the useful things like help to relieve headaches and pressure, eye itchiness and watering, face pain, eye twitching and this fun little tidbit- keeping the body warm when you feel like you are unable to stay warm and are experiencing shivering and aversion to cold.

Tai Yang- This was always a migraine go-to for me. This point is located at the temple one fingerbreadth from the outer portion of the eye/ end of the eyebrow. You will feel a divot or hole in the temple where this point resides. This point is great for reliving pressure, swelling, heat from the eyes. Was often used with a quick prick to bleed technique to help with improving vision. But here we will just massage or acupuncture. So amazing for releasing the pain and pressure of head fullness!

Stomach 2- This point tho! For opening the sinuses is a little clinical gem that I learned while I was in school. Here you can literally feel your sinuses open and breathe so much easier. This point is located right below the pupil, one fingerbreadth below the bottom of the eye. You can feel a small hole in your orbital bone here. Focus on that, game changer for opening up those frontal sinuses.

Large Intestine 20- This is the last point along the Large Intestine meridian and it does not disappoint. If you have blocked nasal passages, runny nose, itchy nose, sneezing she is your girl. May increase the phlegm/snot situation for a moment as it drains, but you will feel better! Located where the base of your nostril and the top of your smile line meet.

Bi tong- a little higher up on the nose than the last point, at the base of the nasal bone. This is also a drainage queen, sometimes even a little more effective than Large intestine 20. If you are struggling with the sneezing, itching full nose situation, definitely give this one a whirl.

Yin Tang- the master relaxer, in my opinion. Primarily I use this point for calming the mind. But really, who doesn’t need a clam mind in general and when having a gnarly allergy flare. It is also good for the eyes and opening the nose! This point is located on the forehead right between the eyebrows.

These are just a few of the amazing points out there to help you, help you. Feel free to massage in circles around the eyes, small circles at the temples, use a guasha tool or facial roller- they are available for purchase everywhere these days. or just use your hands! My face and sinuses felt s much more after open shooting this video that took me all of 5 minutes. Anyone can do this, you don’t need special training, just a little intention and intuition. Go to town and let me know how it feels!

Happy healing.
